I recently completed the Youth Hut online four-week foundational program ‘Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn’ for teens. My first reaction was to understand why I have struggled with a lot of situations.
It shed more light on affairs of life and helped me decide to be more me. An example is the known fact that I wouldn’t say I like standing in front of people (no matter the number) to present something/someone. The topic that helped my case is Hope (Motivation of learning) and Improvement (Focus of learning). Coincidentally, I had a debate presentation a few days after both topics. As I got to the class, everyone expected me to be shaky on my feet and probably stutter for a few seconds before shutting down then going back to my seat as last time. I did not catch cold feet, neither did I pause momentarily, though I stuttered a lot. I finished my presentation contrary to most thoughts.
After the presentation, I would have felt down, but I’ve learned that improvement is a gradual process. So I look forward to improving more. Through the leadership program, I embraced these personal life mantras: Â
“Never expect people to build their lofts to reach your heights,’ ‘learn from yesterday, develop today, win tomorrow,”
“When it is good, laugh, and when it is bad, roll on the floor and laugh at yourself, and the happenings like you’ve never done before are only a phase, not a lifetime pronunciation’, have hope or give up’ and many others.”
I look forward to continuing this journey, and so far, it has been exciting and full of ‘food for thought.’
I am grateful to Youth Hut for this program.
